




In the early 2000s, Fujifilm rebranded themselves in the wake of the digital era, diversifying their services and entering into the cosmetics business. Using their knowledge on how photographic film and papers react to light, they honed in on the natural antioxidant, astaxanthin to formulate a line of Astalift products that prevents oxidation caused by ultraviolet rays, which ages skin and fades photographs. In this project I applied sunscreen to light-sensitive paper and blotted my legs with the protective smear, considering how the human body is a marvelous piece of art demanding of preservation, readily capitalized on by corporations in occasionally ingenious ways.
